There was once upon a time when the goings-on in any typical office USA, they were fun, somewhat formal, but fun. Everyone worked their tails off but everyone had fun. The office knew where the boss stood because he/she communicated. They believed in face-to-face communication, not only electronic. Those were the days that we remember and love, but for the most part, those days are gone.

No matter what kind of business you are operating or who you may be managing, you must have camaraderie, and you must be fostering an environment that says “we love you, and we love what you do every day”. All too often, managers forget they are dealing with a human element and not robots.

Office pools have been around for decades, in one form or another. When we say “office” we mean any work environment. In this case, the office could be the wait staff at the Texas Roadhouse, welders and machinist in a metal-works shop, a retail sales crew in men’s sportswear at Dillard’s, or the night crew at a Walmart. When we say “office” we mean any work environment that has employees.
